This Jacket Can Control Your Smartphone

Now you can accept calls anytime and everywhere, even while riding your bike.

This new jacket continues Google’s terrific run of inventions designed to streamline every last second of your life towards online productivity. Project Jacquard is an interactive textiles project run by the big G’s Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) research squad. The latest news from their lab is that they’ve collaborated with iconic denim brand Levi’s to create a pretty sweet looking jacket.

And if you think it’s just a normal cool denim jacket, look again. This baby has been designed with the concerns of the urban cyclist in mind—it’s a connected smart jacket that, like all Project Jacquard creations, is embedded with a multi-touch sensor. In this case, it has a sensor in the cuff that lets the wearer do things like answer phone calls from their boss, access directions to their place of work and control the volume of depressing inspirational Ted Talks…

In other words, it’s exactly what we need in our lives, and we need it right now. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long: Google says it will be available in spring 2017.
