Leyland James Kirby makes music for minds out of time.

His breathtaking 2011 creation An Empty Bliss Beyond This World is an incredibly haunting look at the failings of memory and nostalgia for times past. Now he’s stepping back into his role as The Caretaker for a massive undertaking—six albums over the course of three years, exploring the various stages of memory loss.

The first release Everywhere at the end of time, which you can stream above in its entirety, represents the first stage of memory loss: dementia. As Kirby puts it, “This stage is most like a beautiful daydream. The glory of old age and recollection. The last of the great days.” It’s a softly decaying masterpiece in 41:23, to be followed by two more albums each in 2017 and 2018, with the finale coming 2019. Sure to be tragically beautiful, and worth the wait.
