Plants are weird. We have them in our houses, we see them in parks, sometimes we even catch them in their natural habit—nature. But they hardly interact with us, and, generally speaking, we have no idea what they are up to. Do they think, feel or engage in creative processes like music or art? And how would a plant play a synth? A burning question that remained unanswered for quite some time.

But now, Data Garden has come up with an answer which finally allows plants to get their creative juices flowing. MIDI Sprout is a data interface that converts small electrical currents running across plants leaves into MIDI and CC data. They successfully funded 60 devices via a Kickstarter campaign and have 1000 more orders on the waiting list. So, if you want to have one of those machines you better be patient, like a plant.

If you want to know how your own brain sounds, get a device that syncs music straight up with your synapses here.
