Remember that moment when your walkman turned into a noise-making effect for any tape you’d feed to it? Ei Wada too. The Japanese former programmer adopted a quirky musical career after attending a gamelan performance, which inspired him to reproduce the eerie sounds using electronic waste. In 2010, he started employing bulky old cathode ray tubes as music-makers, and his orchestra of obsolete tech has since expanded to include reel-to-reel tape recorders, ventilation fans and TV sets.
