This Book Explores How Auto-Tune Changed Music Forever

A new book by DJ /rupture explores how digital technology has changed the way music is made around the world.

Jace Clayton—better known as DJ /rupture—has long been known as someone who unpacks dance music’s often messy web of roots and connections. Now he’s back with a new book called Uproot: Travels in 21st-Century Music and Digital Culture that explores the impact of digital technology on the creation of music around the world. In an interview with NPR’s Audie Cornish, Clayton explains how Antares’ Auto-Tune software in particular has left its mark on even tiny Berber communities in Morocco.
