New Orleans-based organ player, instrument builder and beautiful weirdo Robert Rolston, otherwise known as Quintron, has invented a machine that translates weather into sound. Marketplace reports that the Weather Warlock runs input from a sensors mounted outside through a sound board, transforming that input into tones. Rolston is reportedly aiming the system at sight-impaired people who suffer from circadian rhythm sleep disorder, in the hopes that hearing the weather will alleviate some of their symptoms. This “musical weather” is streamed as a free public service, and Rolston aspires to establish sensor clusters around the world, “so that listeners may experience musical interpretations of a variety of different climates and time zones—from Iceland to the Amazon.” Find out more here.
