After drool-inducing appearances at Superbooth and a handful of other tech shows, Richie Hawtin has finally released a video demo of his new baby: a 100% analog mixer called PLAYdifferently. Built from a two-year collaboration with Andy Rigby-Jones (formerly of Allen & Heath), the PLAYdifferently Model 1 blends traditional mixer design with an array of new features that includes more filters than you can shake a stick at. The mixer has been specifically designed to let DJs find new performative modes and sonic niches for their sets. “Part of the magic is how the features can be mixed together by each individual where the personality of the mixer and the individual start to come out,” says Hawtin.
