The Prodigy Want To Be Considered "British National Treasures"

Would you consider The Prodigy to be a national treasure? They would. In this recent piece from The Nation, the tek-punk antagonists make the case for their inclusion into British cultural history, citing the general bollocks that is Ibiza “culture” as proof of the overwhelming pop-flavored DJ laziness that has inflicted itself upon electronic music; it’s all rather low-hanging fruit, but who doesn’t love a bit of good antagonism?

As much respect as The Prodigy warrant (not overlooking this bit of meatball misogynism) I’m not sure I want to live in a world where The Prodigy are highlights of UK culture and Mary Anne Hobbs isn’t; who’s making the petition?
