The Surreal Horror of Amazon's Audio Captchas

These randomly generated compositions are terrifyingly beautiful.

Turns out that there’s a whole world of weird sounds hidden inside Amazon’s login system. Gizmodo discovered that the service employs a bizarre—almost demonic—audio captcha system designed to thwart nascent machine intelligence. The compositions, used for the visually impaired, sound like strange found-sound experimental ambient pieces. Numbers are spoken over textured and layered sounds that run frontwards and backwards.
