Our love for Avalon Emerson is reaching dangerous proportions. Today, for instance, we’re having trouble concentrating at work because we’re still feeling sluggish after her killer set at Panorama Bar on Sunday and we’re distracted by the video for “The Frontier”, the lead track on her forthcoming 12″ for UK hit factory Whities. We’ve followed her career since her days in San Francisco’s music scene and charted her development as a DJ in our now-defunct Covering Tracks column and a recent mix for our radio series, so we feel confident in our assessment that Av keeps getting better and better. “The Frontier” is particularly strong: its leading synth line stirs pastoral vibes and nostalgic moods that are mirrored in the clip, which features a dusk journey through the Arizona desert on a motorcycle.
