Home Town Chicago
Boo Wiliams
A nice (double vinyl) re-release that sheds light on one of the less explored neighbourhoods of Chitown. Boo Williams first released this album back in 1996, and it's pretty clear that he was enjoying the moment when inspiration struck and not giving a thought to whether his blueprint productions would sound as timeless as they do. Although an integral part of the second wave of Chicago house, William's has never been seen as an artist at the forefront of the movment and maybe that's why it's taken until now for people outside of Chicago to really take an interest in his very personal take on house music. Tracks like 'Snare Tappin´' or 'Smokin´Acid' wiggle and bump against the happy, energetically pumping drums of tracks like 'Make Some Noise' or the deep grooves of 'Devil Music'. Contemporary house music resonates with the spirit of Williams´'Home Town', and this timeless feel is what makes Home Town Chicago such an attractive package. Anotherday specialise in digging out memorable moments of music history and re-releasing this album (which originally saw its light of day on Curtis Jones´ Relief Records) and with Boo Williams they have, for house heads at least, struck the proverbial gold. Memories are always just around the corner.
