Booka Shade Live - Energetic Live-Set recorded at Electronic Beats Festival Vienna

Walter Merziger und Arno Kammermeier, the two guys behind Booka Shade have already been making music history since the 1990s when producing acts like Culture Beat or No Angels which garnered huge international success. Booka Shade are part of the Get Physical posse around DJ T. and M.A.N.D.Y. Over the years Booka Shade have stayed true to their roots in dancemusic and established themselves as guarantor of quality dance tracks that bridge the gap between underground club tunes and more popular dance music. . Booka Shade now present their first longplayer "The Sun & The Neon Light" being released on Get Physical.

Booka Shade started working on their latest album on the road during their "Movements" tour and finalised the production with more outboard equipment. The challenge was to create more depth and texture. Therefore they recorded a lot of acoustic elements like percussion, guitars and also the string orchestra Filmorchester Babelsberg which is heard in the tilte track "The Sun & The Neon Light" and the first song of the album; "Outskirts". The DJ-Kicks series inspired Booka Shade to use more vocals in their productions and – as they heard songs like "numbers" on campus- and daytime radios around the world – so it was clear that "The Sun & The Neon Light" won’t be another dancefloor album. Another reason why the album sounds the way it sounds is based on the fact that Booka Shade are a touring band: "We developed a little bit from being producers and being in the studio all the time to actually being a travelling band which travels around the whole world and plays a lot of concerts. We wanted to create an album that you could also listen to at home and wanted to experiment with different beats, not only 4-to-the-floor dancefloor stuff. As much as we love club music. I mean, we have been asked why the album is "so home listening" and if we don’t like club music any more. That’s not true at all. We still love it. We just wanted to give a different perspective on electronic music."

So, Booka Shade recorded a second album with club versions available for those who love them for their club tunes. You can hear selected songs from the album, partly in their original versions, as an appetizer for the whole album we provide you the vinyl edition (the 2nd CD) of "The Sun & The Neon Light" here on www.electronicbeats.net/radio!
