Fritz Kalkbrenner
Enriching the Kalkbrenner world of sound
2 years after the movie premiere of Berlin Calling, the world has seen protagonist DJ Ickarus aka Paul Kalkbrenner playing football stadiums with audiences that only few techno DJs got to play. While thousands and thousands of music lovers danced to the soundtrack of Berlin Calling, many blamed kingpin Paul for the commercial sellout of what they called techno culture. Paul may have moved mainstream. Fritz made his mark with more distinguished tunes beyond functional hymns that cause programmatic freakout.
Initially performing vocals for artists like Alexander Kowalski, DJ Zky and also his brother („Sky and Sand“), Fritz Kalkbrenner started to work on his own production skills leading him to a label deal with Suol Records where he has just released some outstanding deep vocal house stuff. Both as a DJ and as a producer Fritz focusses the more soulful and tastemaking side of club tunes, processing both his hip hop heritage and grand funky house dope with a timeless appeal.
Check out his 5 stars DJ mix featuring tracks of Dabrye, J.Dilla, Soulphiction, Slope, Pepe Braddock and some more handpicked tunes mainly made for mind and soul.
