Remembering VIVA Zwei with new Uncanny Valley mixtape

Remembering VIVA Zwei with new Uncanny Valley mixtape Oh the nostalgia! Those golden days of music video television long before the internet was around. Those days when we (as German teenagers) used to switch on the TV, skip to VIVA Zwei, and watch music clips by Aphex Twin, Sneaker Pimps, Funkstörung or LTJ Bukem. Those days when Ill-Young Kim hosted Electronic Beats TV, and music television at VIVA Zwei was an experimental playground for talented video jockeys. Those days were gone in 2002 when VIVA pulled the plug of its alternative television platform. Now they’re (kind of) back.

Initiated by a group of Polish friends the tribute website and Facebook page VIVA Zwei Changed My Life is a meeting point for music enthusiasts, former VIVA Zwei viewers and fans of VIVA’s VHS tape aesthetics to connect, discuss and relive memories – hell, even the website’s source code shares the love.

Following up on a bunch of DJ mixes, Dresden’s Uncanny Valley records have just submitted a mixtape by Conrad Kaden, containing classic indie songs by bands such as Soulwax, Tocotronic vs. Console, and the mighty Modest Mouse – stream the mix below and don’t forget to watch Moloko live at Electronic Beats Festival Cologne 2001.
