Check Out More Than 17,400 Alan Lomax Recordings

Alan Lomax spent more than 60 years documenting folk musicians around the world, and now, his pioneering archive is available online for free. The Alan Lomax Research Center digitized over 17,400 files recorded from 1946 up through the ’90s. Lomax dreamed of being able to make these recordings available to anyone who was interested, and the archive includes full performances as well as outtakes and field recordings. Check it out here, and for more music history, dive into hundreds of ’90s rave and jungle cassettes here.
