Enter The Esoteric World Of Polish Electronic Music

Poland may not be the first country you think of when you think of electronic music hotspots, but that may soon change.

Locked as it was behind the Iron Curtain, Poland’s contributions to electronic music have remained mostly the stuff of local knowledge. And this is a shame as the country has a tradition of avant-garde electronic experimentation that goes back to the ’60s.

“A Foreigner’s Guide To Polish Electronic Music” is a new interactive guide by CULTURE.PL that charts the people, places, labs and labels that make up the firmament of Polish electronic music. It makes for a fascinating, museum-like experience that covers everything from the early tape experimentation to the rise of Polish DJ stars Catz ‘N Dogz.

Give it a whirl. And then check out this article about power electronics-turned-techno party Brutaz and this guide to the contemporary Warsaw underground.
