Starting in May of this year, the events preceding the attempted closure—and ultimate reopening—of Tbilisi clubs Bassiani and Café Gallery threw the spotlight back on the political vibrancy of rave culture. The sheer scale of the protests, alongside the form these protests took—which included a massive impromptu rave on the steps of the Georgian parliament building—forced many people to reconsider the vitality of club politics, a point that, until recently, seemed to have lost weight since the early years of rave history.

On Saturday, October 13, club politics will be tackled head-on at an exciting panel hosted by MOMEM – Museum Of Modern Electronic Music in Frankfurt. Offering an interactive historical survey of modern electronic music’s crazy and complex history, there is no better place to hear about the political forces caught up in contemporary club culture. The panel includes Rave On author Matthew Collin, Bassiani co-founder Zviad Gelbakhiani and Frontpage publisher Jürgen Laarmann.

To cap off the evening, Bassiani will be throwing a massive afterparty, and we are giving away two tickets to this special BASSIANI@FRANKFURT event. RSVP to the event here and comment on this Facebook post to win a pair of tickets. Connecting the dots between Germany’s legendary rave city with one of the most exciting institutions in contemporary dance culture, this is not one you want to miss.
