Go Back To Ibiza's Legendary '90s Party Scene With This Forgotten Video Documentary

The Channel 4 documentary A Short Film About Chilling also boasts one hell of a soundtrack.

There’s nothing quite like a good Ibiza documentary. Something about the glittering Mediterranean waters, crazy club architecture, party scenes and seriously chilled-out revellers mumbling about lifestyles makes for endlessly entertaining viewing—not to mention a good dose of FOMO.

One such documentary that seems to have flown  under the radar is a A Short Film About Chilling, a 30-minute Channel 4 documentary filmed back in1990. It features a colourful selection of the key personalities  leading the island’s blossoming dance back in the day, including Charlie Chester, 808 State and Terry Farley. It also features rare footage from some of the electric live performances that graced Ibiza’s celebrated clubs on the cusp of its ’90s heydey.

What really sets the documentary apart is its impeccable soundtrack. Featuring full-blown Ibiza classics like The Shaman’s “Move Any Mountain” and Andrew Weatherall’s remix of Saint Etienne’s “Only Love Can Break Your Heart”, the documentary captures perfectly the sounds and sites of Ibiza at a special moment in its history.

Check the documentary out in full above. And when you’re done, listen to some more Ibiza essentials from Balaeric maestro Mark Barrott.
