Gorillaz Reveal More Than 40 Songs To Follow 'Humanz'

Frontman Damon Albarn said that he’ll continue to work on new material “for another 18 months.”

Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s Gorillaz recently announced Humanz, the virtual band’s fifth studio album and first release in seven years. The LP is set to drop April 28 and clocks in at a staggering 19 songs in length. According to a recent disclosure from Albarn, however, this release is only the tip of the iceberg.

In an April 6 conversation on Beats 1 Radio, the songwriter revealed that there are an additional 40 to 45 unfinished tracks that didn’t make it into the Humanz project. “I’m just sort of slowly going through all the tunes that sort of didn’t work out and finishing them,” Albarn said. He noted that completing these pieces could take another 18 months of work before they’re ready for release. Gear up for their forthcoming material by watching their 360-degree virtual reality video, “Saturnz Barz (Spirit House)”, below.
