Hear An Interactive Sound Sculpture Inspired By Radical Modern Art

Piet Mondrian is the influence behind this interesting design.

Want to hear the artistry of a circuit board? Artist and DIY synth creator Eirik Brandal has taken the tangle of oscillators, resistors and ports that make up the basic architecture of a circuit, and he’s unfolded them into 3-dimensional space. His interactive sound sculptures look like alien transmitting devices, with electrical parts hanging and suspended by metal frames which pass currents from wire to wire.

In composition #11, Brandal takes inspiration from artistic pioneer Piet Mondrian. The sculpture is driven by two proximity sensors, which then trigger the frequency of sine waves. The whole sculpture begins to buzz with rich, resonant sounds as soon as you pass your hands in front of it. You can watch the sculpture in action below. Scroll down further to see another one of his crazy creations spit out crazy noise. Check out all of his work on his website here.
