Helena Hauff Shares Her 13 Favorite Records And Early Influences In This Feature

Among them are The Stooges, Nirvana and Hypnobeat.

If there are any artists whose brains you wish you could pick, Helena Hauff is probably one of them. The Hamburg musician is hot on the heels of announcing her forthcoming album on Ninja Tune, Qualm, as well as revealing that she will be a part of this year’s legendary Atonal Festival in Berlin.

And now, she’s provided The Quietus with a list of the albums that inspire her own productions and make her tick. Among those that she lists are electro classics like I-f’s Lost Tracks For Lost Minds and Lab Rat XL’s Mice Or Cyborg, as well as some more surprising cuts like Nirvana’s Bleach and The Stooges’ Raw Power.

“I listen to it when I’m really sad and I wanna feel even sadder,” she says of Iggy Pop. “It’s got this emotionally raw quality to it…distortion and rawness is something that I appreciate.”
