Greece is not the first country you would usually associate with the minimal wave explosion across Europe and North America in the ’80s. Nations like Belgium, France and Italy — let alone places like the UK and Germany — tend to be more strongly associated with the compressed and sombre synth aesthetics of minimal wave than this sunny Mediterranean country.

Nevertheless, as any dedicated record digger will no doubt tell you: there are plenty of obscure gems to be found in any country if you’re dedicated enough. This certainly goes for the mix below from Jillian Strong, who has compiled a mix of Greek minimal wave between the years of 1982 and 1988.
