This New Initiative Will Help Keep Clubs Open

The Creative Footprint (CFP) is a new idea that could stop club closures.

It’s happening more and more: Clubs in cities all over the world are forced out of business due to social pressures and land development. Isn’t it time that we came up with reason to justify their existence to the non-club-going public?

Introducing The Creative Footprint, a new initiative that helps clubs define their part in the culture of a city. It measures things like lineup diversity, local artist support and the reputation of guest performers to create a rating system that can be used to support arguments of public benefit. This system can also be used to measure the overall cultural value of a city’s nightlife. Berlin scored a pretty sweet 8.02. Read more about the program (in German) here.
