These Miniature Retro Synths Are Made From Paper

Dan McPharlin’s analog paper crafts are beautiful representations of ’70s studio gear.

Circuit boards and cardboard might not be the first two things you would associate with one another, but Australian designer Dan McPharlin’s Analogue Miniatures are bridging the worlds of paper- and synthesis-craft. Intricately assembled from paper, framing mat board, string, rubber bands and cardboard, these beautiful little creations might be the closest you ever get to some of these rare synthesizers and recording equipment. Though none of the objects are meant to be exact replicas of real-life devices, they draw beautiful aesthetic inspiration from ’70s and ’80s audio technology. We’ve put some of our favorites below, but you can check out plenty more pieces from McPharlin’s collection on Flickr.
