Science Confirms: Musicians Have Faster Reflexes Than You

Can you imagine how good your favorite DJs reflexes are?

If you’ve ever seen a jazz pianist perform, you’re probably not surprised by the obvious results of the University of Montreal’s new study: Good musicians have incredible reflexes.

A new study published in Brain and Cognition confirms that musicians have “significantly faster” multi-sensory and uni-sensory reaction times than non-musicians. The study measured the reaction times of 19 non-musicians and 16 skilled musicians—including eight pianists, three violinists and two percussionists. Participants were instructed to click a computer mouse when either a box vibrated or a white noise sounded or when both went off at the same time.

Sounds like the perfect test for a professional laptop producer. We wonder how they would fare against a concert violinist. Check out the full study here.
