Surgeon Discusses Touring, Cats And Modular Synths In This New Interview

“Very often I’m trying to subtly challenge the listeners’ preconceptions, not just about techno or music, but about life, the universe and everything.”

Anthony Child is much more than a techno DJ. Sure, he also plays live sets with modular synthesizers and composes highly conceptual albums, but he’s also elevated himself to a level of respect in the underground community that few musicians in the scene receive. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in dance music, and, thankfully, he’s willing to share it.

In this new interview, Surgeon goes in-depth about his personal life as a touring DJ and live musician, covering everything from the rough life on the road to his personal method for avoiding writer’s block. He also discusses standout parties in the UK, his take on what makes music truly “experimental”—and how his cats feel about listening to techno.
