Maybe.
Few things stoke as much controversy in the club world as face control. Some see it as the first line of defense against the loss of identity caused by techno-tourism. Others claim that subjective door policies smack of unnecessary elitism.
Of course, Berghain’s notorious test of club cred has long held centre-stage in this debate. But recent allegations of racial screening at clubs DSTRKT and Cirque Le Soir in London have thrown the question of whether door policies guarantee or violate the principles of freedom and diversity in clubbing wide open.
