Watch How 'Valerian''s Soundtrack Was Made With An Arturia Synth

Arturia takes you inside a big-time film composer’s studio to watch how he unites synths and orchestras.

Last week week saw the release of Luc Besson’s new feature film, Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets. In time with the much-hyped release comes a mini-documentary shot inside the studio of Alexandre Desplat, the composer behind the movie’s epic score. In the clip, which was produced and released by French electronic instrument manufacturer Arturia, Desplat explains and demonstrates how he used the company’s MatrixBrute synthesizer to supplement and embellish upon his live orchestra. He tells the audience that he likes to mix “real” and “fake” elements to achieve sounds that live instruments cannot make on their own.
