Videodrome 136 – This week’s best videos

Each week, Moritz Gayard rounds up the best music videos, so you don’t have to.

Back again in the music video world, which is still a major player in the world of our beloved music video blogs. Look, even Germany’s Thump and the Dazed are contributing now, something you can compare. Anyway, this week I’d say we have some talent alert. Or are you already familiar with SZA, Sich Mang or Titts? I wish you an enjoyable browsing below:

#1 SZA – “Babylon”, directed by SZA & APLUSFILMZ

SZA is on the come up! Yup, talent alert. Above you can see some nice visuals for her song, “Babylon”. Looking forward for her debut project, Z. She’ll rule this year’s SXSW. Wanna bet?

#2 Shura – “Touch”, directed by Ammr Khalifa

Here’s nice chill UK newcomer Shura’s music video for their wonderful song “Touch”. Video is all about physical reactions to human interactions. Digging this a lot.

#3 Dean Blunt – “Mersh”, self-directed

Dean Blunt, mersh. As usual, pretty much ahead of the game.

#4 Sich Mang – “Tired”, directed by Charlie Anderson

Back to the x-step game. Here’s a little doses of Wurkstep. Count the beats and be aware of the bass.

#5 Angel Haze – “A Tribe Called Red”, directed by Rollo Jackson

After all the mess with her release dates and stuff, Angel Haze has now unveiled her simple but enigmatic video for “A Tribe Called Red”.

#6 Jungle – “Busy Earnin”

Jungl’s new single “Busy Earnin’” due for release in April on XL Recordings, here’s the dance heavy video – also: check them playing live at our EB Festival in Bratislava.

#7 Iggy Azalea & Charli XCX – “Fancy” , directed by Julien Christian Lutz

Clueless, anyone? Also, I am obsessed. Please marry me, Iggy.

#8 Ghost Culture – “Giudecca”, directed by Lewis LLoyd

Premiered over at the Guardian, this is the latest drop from London-based Ghost Culture, a powerful acid/electro track that has just been released on Phantasy records.

#9 Dave.i.d – “AWIDK”

This guy. You know him. So good.

#10 Wheelchair Sports Camp – “Dance Off”, directed by Christopher Bagley

Inspiring artists are the best. Check disabled Denver rapper Kalyn Heffernan’s latest drop.

#11 Titts – “Woef”, directed by Thomas de Rijk, Ricky Calvit Jonsson Jr. & Kevin Boitelle

Powerful collaboration between Dutch producers James Zoo and Y’skid, for their joint entitled “Woef”. Video is classy, too.

#12 Lykke Li – “I Never Learn”, dieted by Tarik Saleh

Look who’s back. It was five years ago, when I felt in love with Lykke while watching her movements in this nicely edited video. Now after a tet-a-tet with Mr. David Lynch and much more, her new album is out. And yes, she’s still special.
