Of the many groups and producers inspired by or formed from the ashes of witch house, V▲LH▲LL are one of the most essential. The Stockholm-based duo veils itself behind a requisite shroud of secrecy, letting their music speak for itself. It’s prime stuff, with covers and remixes ranging from Lana Del Rey and Waka Flocka Flame to Madonna and John Denver, the latter of which is weird as hell—but it works. Their upcoming album Leaning On Shadows wields their beautiful brand of 808-led darkwave and bass-heavy industrial stronger than ever, with a powerful sense of melody and a ritualistic vibe that ensures your mind will be refracting tracks like “Towers Fall” and “Water Harp” long after sunset.
