The Caretaker has got Patience (After Sebald)

The Caretaker has got Patience (After Sebald) The Caretaker, aka Leyland Kirby will release his next album, a soundtrack to a documentary film called Patience (After Sebald), next month. The film which is described as a “multi-layered film essay” is based on German author WG Sebald and his novel Rings of Saturn. Directed by Grant Gee an Englishman who previously made the Radiohead documentary Meeting People Is Easy the film was released in 2011. For the soundtrack, which comes out at the end of January, Kirby was provided with 90 year old recordings by Franz Schubert in order to create the music which is in the heavily warped, distorted and treated style of The Caretaker. If you don’t know his work, the album An Empty Bliss Beyond This World is a good place to start. You can stream it here.

History Always Favours The Winners will release Patience (After Sebald) on January 23rd, 2012.
