2 Hours Of Zen: This Video Mixes Drexciya And Classic ’90s Video Game ‘Ecco The Dolphin’

Two of the most exciting ’90s underwater universes have finally joined forces.

Now this is such a good idea we can’t believe it took so long for someone to make it. In any case, major cred to Youtuber “Oldschoolbobby”, who has combined two of our favorite underwater worlds for an audio-visual extravanganza far greater than the sum of its parts.

That’s right: ’90s Sega Genesis hit Ecco the Dolphin has been soundtracked with the Detroit electro legends Drexciya. And while Drexicya’s musical mythology usually includes warring Drexciyans and barracuda batallions, we think their aquatic futurism and tense electro rollers fit perfectly into the heart-wrenching narrative arc of Ecco as the dolphin attempts to find its pod.

Across two hours, hear some of Drexciya’s most infamous tracks while following Ecco on its wild and wonderful journey. Trust us: this is the mental holiday you’ve always wanted. Watch it in full above. And thanks to Create Digital Music for tipping us to this one.
