3 Of Dance Mania's Rarest Records Are Finally Being Reissued
The Chicago house label will re-release three of its most in-demand records.
Attention house music heads: Christmas has come early this year. Dance Mania has announced the reissue of three of its rarest and most-loved records. The Chicago house mainstay will revive Strong Souls’ Hums, Dee Jay Nehpets’ The Funk Child EP and Playground Productionz’s Orgy (XXX) from its sprawling catalog of house heat.
All three records will be remastered for the reissue. Now fanatics will have the opportunity to grip some of the finest deep and ghetto house from the label’s mid-’90s output. Strong Souls’ Sums is the first record set for release: a stunning four-track EP of harmonic grooves that reflect the producers’ previous work with the likes of Larry Heard. Following that will be The Funk Child, an EP of gritty hip-hop-inspired beatdowns that still fetch absurd figures on the second-hand market. Rounding it out is DJ Deeon’s EP as his Playground Productionz alter ego, which will bring some jacking soul to your record collection.
You can listen to clips from Hums below. Scroll down further for two more cuts from the reissue batch.
