93 psychedelic and submarine tracks from the iconic label.

It’s hard to understate the significance of Chain Reaction.

The sister label of Basic Channel—itself a formidable stable of stripped, Detroit-inspired metronomic techno run by Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus—the imprint appeared in 1995 and, over the course of eight years, released over 40 records.

It’s hard to think of one of those records that is now not considered a classic: whether subaqueous techno or bright and diffused ambience—and often both at the same time—these are records that hold pride of place both in DJs’ record bags and in private collections.

Now, thanks to this great playlist—with 93 tracks ranging from Porter Ricks to Monolake—you can relive exactly why Chain Reaction remains one of the most important touchstones in techno history.
