This Cheap Portable Synth Is a Trippy Little Analog Beast

Who couldn’t use a  “psychedelic analog noise creature” in their collection?

Bastl Instruments is back with a powerful noise-generating synth that’s sure to add that extra bit of psychedelic atmosphere to your productions. Following on from the Czech company’s pocket-sized, battery-powered modular synth, the softPop offers seriously powerful, semi-modular noise generation fun despite its deceptively small size.

In the words of Bastl, the softPop is a fully analog, “playfully organic, semi-modular light and sound synthesizer” that can create sounds as diverse as bass lines to drips of water. You play the synth through an intuitive interface of 6 faders, with the level of each fader offering a countless combination of different sounds. The mini patchbay offers extra configurability and processing of external instruments, and there is even a “secret chamber in the back for hacking and modding.” The best part though? It has an onboard speaker so you can play it just about anywhere.

The synth is available for pre-order for €309. You can check out all its tech specs on the softPop website here. Watch the beast in action below.
