Listen To Experimental Producer Yves Tumor's Weird And Twisted New Album On Warp

YvesTumor

The artist breaks new ground on Safe In The Hands Of Love, his debut full length for the label.

The world never quite knows what to make of Yves Tumor. The artist—who is also known as Teams and Bekelé Berhanu—is probably best known for his soulful, dreamlike 2016 album on Berlin-based label PAN, Serpent Music, and his corrosive, confrontational live performances. His music jumps from ambient, minimal loops of acoustic instruments to barrages of harsh noise, with the only common thread being complete unpredictability.

On his new album for Warp, Safe In The Hands Of Love, the experimental artist has made perhaps one of the most unpredictable moves of his career, fully embracing vocal-driven indie pop structures—or his own twisted, mangled versions of them. Sandwiched between heavy noise tracks—written with Posh Isolation affiliates Croatian Amor and Puce Mary and frequent collaborator Oxhy—Yves Tumor’s pop songs feel less like a new direction and more like a logical progression, adding an extra level of depth to his musical oeuvre.
