We catch up with the 99CHANTS head about today’s club culture and his new album, D’Angelo.
The latest edition of our German-speaking podcast turns its attention to the story one of the most unique artists working in Germany today: David August. The Hamburg-born producer shot to notoriety at the age of 17 on the back of an infectious remix for Oliver Koletzki. Since then, the classically-trained musician has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the most talked about live acts on the festival circuit and heading the impeccable 99CHANTS label. In October, August released his new album, D’ANGELO, which takes Greek mythology and Italian art as major sources of inspiration.
In this podcast, August gives his impression on today’s club culture, his dreams of a collective clubbing experience where egoism is left at the door, and his attempt to create a completely open musical imagination when composing his unique tracks. Listen to it in full below.
