Check Out the Extended Program for EBF Bucharest 2015

Our extended program for EBF Romania 2015 includes late-night shopping, innovative installations, compelling panels, concerts and much more.

The EB festival season is well underway and it’s bigger than ever. Our one-off concerts in Podgorica, Bucharest, Zagreb and Budapest have expanded to include two nights of musical delights and three days of bonus events like street fairs and workshops. After a successful launch in Montenegro in September we’re taking over Bucharest from October 2-4 with the likes of DJ Hell, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Hudson Mohawke, and we’ve prepared a jam-packed progam that takes place in bars and venues all over the city. Check out what’s on offer below and scope the main EB events here.

The first takes place on Saturday night, when an experimental DJ will combine forces with a mapping artist to create a performance that will wow the ears and the eyes. Lokal Bar

October 2, 19:00 and October 4, 13:00 – 17:00: A red wax cherry tree and a limestone Lenin greet all who enter the yard at Lokal Bar, a venue built in a 19th century Romanian house. During World War II, the space was used as a recruitment center for the Romanian Army, and during the latter years of the Communist era it served as headquarters for an agricultural company. It was abandoned for a decade before the Lokal founders transformed it into one of Bucharest’s most popular underground spots. Today the house has an open porch, a bar built from steel cabinets and a terrace out back.

On Friday night, we’ll be out on the terrace at 19:00 with local pianist Dan Tibacu, who will play modern interpretations of classical music. We’ll return on Sunday, October 4, at 13:00 for a four-hour cooking session with Bucharest’s beloved chef duo Popcohn, who will present their latest culinary creation made from raw ingredients.

Vinyl Bazaar at Dianei 4

October 2, 19:00, October 3, 15:00 – 20:00 and October 4, 20:00 – 24:00: The Vinyl Bazaar at Dianei 4 is an extension of the Analog Bazaar, which is the only event in Bucharest that displays analog gear like pickups, mixers, vinyl records, books and magazines, film cameras and old photos. The three-day event runs from Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 4 and unites performances, physical shops, online stores, DJs and collectors for a nostalgic gathering devoted to the days of rewinding cassettes with pens.

On Friday evening at 19:00, local DJs Piers Posner and Abasc Music who will DJ with—you guessed it—vinyl records. The fair runs the next day, October 3, from 14:00-20:00, so you’ll be able to peruse stands and listen to potential music purchases at the stations upstairs. In the evening, the Pixels will come over for a Q&A, autograph session and a small acoustic concert before more vinyl DJ sets from Lazio, DJ Bully and Abasc Muisc. The closing festivities on Sunday, October 4 include a special brunch and bring-your-own-vinyl listening party at noon and a set from DJ KnowHow aka Piers Posner.

Electronic Beats' Urban Picnic

October 3, 18:00: The Bicicleta Bar is an unconventional place infused with nature but located in the center of Bucharest, which makes it the perfect place for an “urban picnic” in the venue on Saturday. We’ll roll out the gingham blankets, bowls of punch and lemonade, snacks and fruits to hang out while local DJs Tzuc, Emap and the Bicicleta team play tunes alongside visuals from Vloop. Check out the details on Facebook!

October 2, 16:00: Romanian selectors RotoPerCutoR and Bask will play at the Misbits record store all Friday afternoon.
