The Radio Sessions: Breakbot

Yup, it’s that time again. This week it’s the turn of Breakbot to drop by the FluxFM studio to spin some records with host Mathias Weck. Known to his maman as Thibaut Berland, the French producer first grabbed our attention all the way back in 2010 with his summer hit “Baby I’m Yours” which showcased his skill at melding pop and funk to alchemize his own mongrel sexed-up sound. He’ll be giving us a run down of his favorite tracks by Paul Davis, Rose Royce and Outlines—the latter of course featuring Irfane, the singer he works with as Breakbot. The second hour will feature a Breakbot mix, letting us into his own diverse musical universe.

You can listen to the whole radio show tonight on FluxFMstarting at 10pm (CET). Tune in through terrestrial radio or, if you’re outside Germany, head to the stream.

Miss it? You can catch up with the first hour through FluxFM’s on demand feature from Friday, while the DJ mix will be up on EB a few days later.

The Radio Sessions: Henrik Schwarz

On this week’s edition of the EB Radio Sessions it’s the turn of Berlin’s Henrik Schwarz to join Mathias Weck in the FluxFM studio.

The one-time graphic designer will be discussing his unorthodox musical career, from the remixes he made of songs performed in the Sami language by Norwegian vocalist Mari Boineto, to his more recent forays into instrumental music for his forthcoming album “Instruments”—an album of house tracks remodelled into classical compositions. He’ll also be introducing his latest project which sees him working alongside Âme and Dixon—under the A Critical Mass moniker—to create a new score for the influential touchstone of German Expressionism Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari.

You can listen to the whole radio show tomorrow on FluxFMstarting at 10pm (CET). Tune in through terrestrial radio or, if you’re outside Germany, head to the stream.

The Radio Sessions: John Tejada

On this week’s edition of our Radio Sessions, Vienna-born producer John Tejada steps into the studio with host Mathias Weck.

They’ll be discussing the US-based Tejada’s new album The Predicting Machine, recently released on Kompakt, his personal label Palette Recordingsand his side project I Am Not A Gun, which features Tejada on drums and classical guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto. Not only that, but they’ll also be discussing something that most musicians are constantly wondering: is it still possible for an independent artist to make money? We can’t promise concrete answers, but the conversation will certainly be an interesting one.

You can listen to the whole radio show tomorrow on FluxFMstarting at 10pm (CEST). Tune in through terrestrial radio or, if you’re outside Germany, head to the stream.

The Radio Sessions: BlackBlackGold & Louise Brailey

This week, EB’s Radio Sessions gets two guests from close to home: EB editors Daniel Jones and Louise Brailey! Aside from his duties as an editor for ElectronicBeats.net, Daniel is also a music promoter and DJ under the name BlackBlackGold. Louise hails from London, and packs a love of grime that’s as heavy as her knowledge of the genre. They’ll be joining host Mathias Weck to play a truly unique selection of tracks including Nero’s Day at Disneyland, Terror Danjah, and Chelsea Wolfe. The second half of the show features a brand new mix from BlackBlackGold.  With track input from Louise, he’s crafted a genre-bending mix that includes, among many others, A$AP Mob, The Sixteens, Trae, John Maus, Realicide, and plenty of original bizarre edits and reworks. It will make you laugh, and go ‘whoa’, and be like ‘hahaha yesss’, if you’re like us.

Tune in to Daniel and Louise on-air at Flux.fmstarting tonight at 10pm (GMT +1). Tune in through terrestrial radio or, if you’re outside Germany, head to the stream.

Miss it? You can catch up with the first hour through FluxFM’s on demand feature from Friday, while the mix will be up on EB a few days later. ~
