Win a pair of tickets to a free trip to see Depeche Mode in NYC

UPDATE: This competition is now closed. Thank you for participating. Winners have been notified.

Depeche Mania has been sweeping EB this summer with a selection of fan-curated exhibitions, new interviews and conversations with the band and their peers, and live shows across Europe. Now we’re giving two lucky globetrotters a chance to see one of the world’s most famous bands perform in one of the world’s most famous cities—entirely for free. On September 6th, Depeche Mode will hold a concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NYC. We’re giving each winner a pairs of tickets, flights and three nights in a hotel to the event. Spend an evening basking in the glow of songs classic and new, and then soak in some of those New York sights and flavors (we recommend The Bagel Store and Blue Bottle Coffee for breakfast and a Sicilian slice at L & B Spumoni Gardens for a quick afternoon recharge).

To win, all you have to do is sign up to our newsletter before 11:59 CET on Thursday July 18th—don’t forget to write “DM NY” in the Event field below so we know you want to be considered for this competition. We’ll notify the winners by email the next day. (You probably already know that you have to be over 18, have to have a valid passport and—if you’re not American—you are responsible for your own US visa.)

Yellofier competition – 24 hours left to enter!

Hurry, you’ve only got 24 hours left to submit your tracks and be in with a chance of winning a free trip to Zurich.

In April we told you about a brand new app called Yellofier which turned your own field recordings into fully fledged compositions in a way that was both fun and easy. Since then many of you have submitted your own attempts to the public vote as part of our Yellofier competition, fighting for the chance to go to Zurich, all expenses paid, to spend a day with Yello’s Boris Blank—who is also the inventor of the app along with Swedish producer Håkan Lidbo. The winning song will also be released, and here’s the clincher, on the next Electronic Beats compilation.

The contest runs until May 31st, which is tomorrow. Below is the current Top Three currently riding high on the Yellofier website. Think you can do better? Grab the app and get yellofying. From May 1st the app will cost 2,69€.

Yellofier: Anything becomes music

Yello’s Boris Blank has teamed up with Swedish producer Håkan Lidbo for the new Yellofier app, which can turn any sound into music. You can download the five-star-rated Yellofier for free from your appstore throughout the month of April—try it now and enter a competition to win a free trip to Zurich to yellofy the city with Boris Blank.

The Yellofier app by Boris Blank and Swedish producer Håkan Lidbo is less a compositional tool and more a blank canvas that invites the user to hear the world with different ears. By “yellofying” field recordings and turning them into treatable sounds, you can create your own songs, or edit other people’s. To prove that, Lidbo and Blank invite you to submit either your own song or to twist and tweak preset tracks by acclaimed artists such as Booka Shade, Carl Craig, Henrik Schwarz, Matt Johnson, Orbital, The Orb, Trentemøller, and more. The submissions compete for a flight to Zurich to spend a day with Boris Blank yellofying the Swiss capital. The winning song, chosen by public vote on yellofier.com, will also be released on the next Electronic Beats compilation. Go to Yellofier.com for details and to enter. Read our interview with Blank and Lidbo here.
