EB Video Premiere: Black Pus “1000 Years”

Black Pus is the new solo project from Lightning Bolt drummer Brian Chippendale. Chippendale first started self-released Black Pus CD-Rs in 2006, following up with an album on Load, called Primordial Pus, in 2011. His frenetic rock style will be familiar to fans of the Bolt, but his drum-mounted oscillator and the more pronounced vocals make Black Pus a different side to the coin. The new full-length All My Relations, comes out on Thrill Jockey on March 18, but you can watch the video for track “1000 Years” right here.

The video, directed by Chippendale himself—who is also a noted comic book artist—is made of images that date from his own childhood. As he relates: “The flipbooks were drawn probably in 4th or 5th grade. There are nearly 1000 pages. The cover of the books usually said ‘adventurer’ on them. Me and friends at the time all drew flipbooks. I remember sitting on the back porch of my house working on them.”
