Videodrome #44 – This week’s best videos

Videodrome #44 - This week's best videos Welcome to the latest edition of the weekly video roundup! Yeehaw, kids. I’ll be hosting the selection this week. You wanna see some cool videos?

1. diamond black hearted boy – Sudan ?????

Weirdly-edited video from the young producer that’s either trying to get a message across or was just created while blazing. Both/either work for me.

2. MADONNA – Give Me All Your Luvin’ (??????? of Mater Suspiria Vision Zombie Rave Mix)

This guy makes a lot of these dragged tracks set to edited movie footage, and they’re always pretty hit or miss. This one, set to footage from the classic gorefest Dead Alive, is a hit. The Scooter one is still the best though, mostly because it has Drew.

3. Main Attrakionz + Shady Blaze – “8Ball” (Ryan Hemsworth remix) live

Oakland represent! New live footage of the duo performing their remixed track. This show bursts with confidence.

4. Odyn Vovk – The Hour (AW12)

Okay, so this isn’t a music video. It is, however, definitely one of my favorite videos I’ve seen this week. Beautiful, meditative short film for their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. Turn up your speakers and enjoy.

5. Psychic Ills – I’ll Follow You Through the Floor

Psychic Ills’ plodding, psychedelic post-punk is a positive pleasure (haha) that reminds me of discovering all those early 4AD records. The dashboard-mounted camera footage from road travels works pretty well with it.

6. Keep Shelly In Athens – Our Own Dream

This washed-out, melancholic little masterpiece for the Greek band’s single is just too good not to revisit.

7. Fostercare – The Empire Will Drain U

Like a cross between an acid trip and a classic house video. Captures the drugged-out aggression of the industrial rave track nicely.

8. Trust – F.T.F.

I haven’t decided if I like Trust yet. Some of their stuff is really great, and some just reminds of extremely dire late-’90s goth synthpop that I can’t believe is getting re-evaluated by anyone. No, man. Leave that shit buried in the landfill of Cleopatra Records and move on. Still, it has some really nice moments, and this ‘F.T.F.’ video is one of them. Your own results may vary, depending on level of eyeliner application.

9. Batwings Catwings – Early Exit

Okay, I’ll be honest. This video, comprised mostly of still shots of the band performing and some vague shots of beachrunning, isn’t that great. I just really like Batwings Catwings, and if you haven’t checked them out yet I suggest you do.
