Joey is alone on Earth, with no one to feel or share his agony, and with not a soul to even acknowledge it. Huggsy and he are the only ones to know.

Joey is in a garden—not one full of delight, like the first Adam, who there fell and took with him all mankind, but rife with misery.

He suffers this anguish and abandonment in the horror of the night.
