EB Listening: Stream Sequence Report’s debut album Secromance

Sequence Report is the one-man project of veteran producer and label founder Tevo Howard. Working out of his Beautiful Granville Studios in Chicago, Tevo Howard is best known for his old school flavored house sound released on the likes of Buzzin’ Fly and Permanent Vacation as well as his own imprint Tevo Howard Recordings (where it nestles among a diverse roster, including work by Hieroglyphic Being cohort Noleian Reusse and Chicago legend Robert Owens). However Secromance, his debut album as Sequence Report, sees Howard experimenting with the colder, Kraftwerk-influenced palette of classic electro—think a chorus of vocoder vox and sheet metal synths. The result is, like much of Howard’s work, a masterclass in raw and analog club music and you can stream the entire album exclusively below.

Sequence Report’s Secromance is out October 1st via Tevo Howard Recordings.

EB Listening: rRoxymore’s Precarious/Precious EP

Time to dance.

Last year Hermione Frank aka rRoxymore got some major interweb buzz with her split 12″ with Planningtorock. Now she has signed a proper label deal on Planningtorock mastermind Janine Rostron’s label Human Level to drop her EP, Precarious/Precious, which is Frank’s first proper solo release under her rRoxymore moniker. Below, we’ve unwrapped the beautiful EP here for the very first time in full, so if you are down for some dancefloor-friendly, hypnotic rhythms, join our listening party now and see you on the floor at Berlin’s Shift, later this month on August 23rd (see the poster below).

EB Premiere: Ben Hoo – “Run Of Sevens” (Marc Ashken Remix)

Time for some minimal house here on EB.net—once upon a time the sound of countless attractive venues along the River Spree in Berlin and still the default soundtrack of our home city. Today we give it up for Ben Hoo who’s about to release his Collected album next month via Get Physical‘s sub-label Kindisch. Hailing from London, Ben Hoo garnered some attention through his previously released EPs Marea and Modal and remixes for Tiga, M.A.N.D.Y, Booka Shade, Fever Ray and Moby. Another remix is embedded below. Here we’re premiering Marc Ashken’s rework of Ben’s groovy “Run Of Sevens”, the second single off of his upcoming album. Talent alert!

Ben Hoo’s new single “Run Of Sevens” drops via the Get Physical sub-label Kindisch on July 3rd.

EB Album Premiere: Tricky – False Idols

As promised yesterday, here’s the full stream of Tricky‘s tenth album False Idols.

We know what you’re thinking so we’re nailing our colors to the mast: it’s up there with Angels With Dirty Faces—our favorite LP by the MC-savant. However, the album has been cited as a career-best—by the creator himself. “Some people say it was the soundtrack to their youth,” said Tricky in a statement on his website, of his benchmark Maxinquaye album, the standard by which all his albums have come to be judged. “You can’t challenge that. But musically this is a better album.”

Strong words. Now it’s time to make your own call. The album certainly doesn’t lack reach, featuring guest vocals by Francesca Belmonte, Fifi Rong, Nneka and Peter Silberman of The Antlers. Eager for more? You can read an interview with Tricky in the next issue of Electronic Beats Magazine.

Unfortunately this stream is not accessible for people living in the US. If that’s you, head here.

False Idols is released on May 28th, on False Idols, an imprint of !K7.

The Radio Sessions: Max Dax

The studio guest on tonight’s Electronic Beats On Air is someone we know very well here at Electronic Beats: our very own editor-in-chief Max Dax.

He’ll be dropping by the FluxFM studio to draw analogies between DAF, Depeche Mode, Einstürzende Neubauten and Kraftwerk, and playing tracks like Kraftwerk’s “Neonlicht”, Depeche Mode’s “Soft Touch Raw Nerve” and “Yü-Gung” by Einstürzende Neubauten. Keep those dials locked.

You can tune in to FluxFM tonight from 10 p.m. (CET). If you’re outside Germany you can, like always, head to the stream.

Miss it? You can catch up with the first hour through FluxFM’s on demand feature from Friday, while the DJ mix will be featured as a Mix of the Day later this week.
