If you’ve ever wondered what your MIDI sketches and beat sequences might look like in meatspace, now’s your chance to find out. XOXX Composer is a new drum machine that makes a kinetic sculpture from sampling, looping and sequencing.

It features an Arduino computer connected to a plywood body with a set of eight rotating discs that each have 16 indents that can be filled with a small ball to trigger different sounds. According to the creator, “the result is a mechanical take on patterned sound.” Sounds pretty cool to us. Watch a video of the device in action above.
