This week saw a tantrum of activity about a club that banned laptops in clubs, and we’ve found a video that puts a different spin on the debate (no pun intended). In 1989, before there were DJ controllers or CDJs, there were DJ turntablism championships. The video above shows one of those events, which are similar to wrestling matches or skate contests. It gets freaky at around the 45-minute mark, when Cutmaster G from Italy uses his legs to work the turntables. You sure couldn’t do that with a laptop! So dive into this video for an hour and imagine a world without laptop DJs. How does it make you feel?
