ALDI Uses Proto Detroit Techno In TV Ad

First ALDI started selling turntables—and now this.
German discount supermarket ALDI recently has started to produce TV ads, and one of the first is about Greek gods having a party who stock up at the chain when they run out of money. The interesting thing about the spot is the soundtrack, which uses seminal Detroit techno track “Sharevari” by A Number Of Names. Although it was released in 1981, the track has hardly aged. However, it is a little sad that it’s now used to sell cheap, mass-produced groceries. Check out the spot and track below.
