There is a famous Apple commercial that aired during the Super Bowl in the 1980s. In it, the company mocks George Orwell’s famous censorship novel, 1984. We suspect Apple first conceived of the ad as part of its “Think Different” ethos, but it’s apparently now found out a way to make this bleak vision of the future a (partial) reality.

As Business Insider reports, in 2014, the company filed a patent to effectively filter out unwanted content from tracks. It looks like their primary aim is to get rid profanities, but we can imagine the possibilities being endless here. Create some DIY bullet headphones to protest this trend here.
