The Casiotone MT40, a toy-like plastic keyboard launched in the ’80s, is the the mother of Sleng Teng, a trademark riddim that became ubiquitous in digi-dancehall and eventually everywhere else. Engadget have compiled an interesting history of the riddim, tracing its roots all the way back to the creator of the genre-shaping preset.
