Sissel, a producer and DJ from Stockholm, has created a Google Doc to highlight non-male musical pioneers. The growing list was made as a reaction to the exclusively cis male photo used as the cover of DJ Mag’s 25th anniversary issue. “It’s a collaborative list, anyone can submit content. The base of the list is from a Discogs list with about 100 techno/house names I started maybe one year ago, when I wanted to listen to more music produced by women. Couldn’t find any lists then, so had to put together my own”, writes Sissel. “There shouldn’t be a need for these kind of lists, but until the scene is equal they matter.” Word!
